Project Scheduler / Claims Engineer

Description and Desired Qualifications

  • Our project control specialists perform in a fast paced high energy TEAM environment, supporting a project team in the execution of all project controls processes and systems on transportation projects. Under limited supervision, using independent judgment, you will competently perform more complex aspects of claims analysis, schedule analysis and project control activities, ensuring that all project control activities such as project administration, change management, project estimating, cost management and schedule management are executed in a timely fashion and in accordance with all program standards and contractual requirements.
  • You should have a BS in Construction Management or a related field, or 10 years + experience in lieu of a degree, at least 5 years on-site project controls experience including Alternative Dispute Resolution experience. Excellent communication skills required. A working knowledge of software such as Primavera, MS Project, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint is required.

Our Project Scheduler / Claims Engineers:

  • Interface with the project team and task managers to define scope of work in the development and update of detailed claims analysis, schedule analysis, cost information, and identification of variances from the original plan.
  • Analyze Request for Change orders in compliance with Caltrans Standard Specifications, Standard Plans, project plans, and Special Provisions
  • Analyze project schedule progress and performance and report trend analysis.
  • Analyze critical path and restraints to determine the effect of changes to the schedule and recommend work-around.
  • Interface with construction management staff in the development and weekly update of the Short Interval Schedule.
  • Advise management of risks that may affect project profit, costs, schedules and client relations.
  • Support the Project Management team in maintaining timely and effective change management processes, procedures and systems.
  • Support the project team in the development and maintenance of any periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) status reports to keep management and/or owner informed on the project progress. These reports may include labor productivity, schedule status, financial analysis, Cost Performance Reports (CPR) and earned value curves.
  • Prepare presentation materials in support of Claims and Schedule analysis.
  • Maintain all subsidiary reports such as equipment schedules, etc. to facilitate good cost/schedule projections (EAC).
  • Assist in the development of Project Budgets and Estimates.
  • Coordinate with Construction personnel in the development of Project Controls information (construction schedules, cost), and incorporation of data into the overall project cost & schedule reports.

Basic Qualifications
