Our client is an Australian contracting group operating in the areas of Mining and Civil Construction. With offices throughout Australasia, they employ thousands of people to work on major projects and they have a reputation of delivering high standards of work and innovative solutions.

As part of ongoing expansion positions have become available for an experienced HSEQ and Training Officer to work at their office located at Olympic Dam.

This is a FIFO role with an 8 on 6 off roster from most capital cities. This may include an overnight stay in Adelaide in order to be on site the next day.

The HSEQ & Training Officer shall ensure the effective development and delivery of all relevant training / education for the project in accordance with the site's training requirements as well as provide HSEQ support.

Main responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to;
  • Manage and coordinate the site HSEQ and Training team in terms of safety, people, margin, quality and time
  • Review site documentation relevant to Conformance Requirements and Standard Procedures
  • Efficient and effective delivery of site training activities.
  • Provide and drive HSEQ support for the site.
  • Contribute to implementing the strategic direction for the Underground Mining Division in order to meet the Company's objectives and targets.
The incumbent will also be required to:
  • Be proactive in relation to safety and ensure a safe working environment across the Advise project management and project personnel of the requirements of legislation, guidelines, Codes of Practice and Standards relevant to the workplace
  • Assist with the Coordination of the workplace inspection and audit system and undertake regular internal HSE audits of the system and / or associated processes, procedures and work practices.
  • Comply with the Management System procedures for Document Control and Control of Management System Records
  • Assist in the preparation of short term programs and monitor performance against them
  • Contribute to the monthly cost forecasts, also contribute to the monthly review of risk and opportunity analysis
  • Comply, manage and maintain the contract conditions and requirements and provide early advice on any identified commercial, contractual issue or conflict.
In order to be successful will need to display;
  • Certificate IV in OHS or relevant tertiary qualifications in safety management
  • Minimum of 5 years operational and years safety experience in mining / civil construction
  • Strong leadership skills and competency, results oriented team player who aspires to continuous improvement
  • Computer Literate, Advanced organisational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Professional interpersonal and communication skills
