Area Sales Manager

Our client is looking for an Area Sales Manager, operating in the bulk materials handling industry, in the mining and power generation markets. The successful applicant will be responsible for generating sales and maintaining relationships and will report directly to the Sales and Marketing Director.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Skills And Knowledge:

  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans (Written and Verbal);
  • Grade 12 and a tertiary Technical or Sales and Marketing qualification is preferable (The applicant must understand the commercial principles of business)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings;
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Office Suite of Products;
  • Previous Sales position in similar markets.

  • Excellent planning and organizing skills are essential;
  • Resourceful and efficient under pressure;

Job Specification

Brief Description Of Key Performance Areas:-

  • Visit Company Clients allocated in call cycles, the frequency of which will be jointly agreed with the Marketing and Sales Director annually, and reviewed quarterly;
  • Arrange and set up appointments with customers to do product presentations, follow up on leads & represent the Company to End User Customers;
  • Compile / Arrange for quotations to customers and follow up on quoted items;
  • Keep up to date with new developments & product improvements to keep customers abreast of developments in the industry; 
  • Resolve customer queries and/or complaints;
  • Implement sales strategies as agreed with the Marketing and Sales Director;
  • Communicate with customers on order status as and when required 
  • Ensure customer satisfaction;
  • Report any customer complaints by means of NCR to the Marketing Manager and SHEQ Manager;
  • Attend all sales meetings; 
  • Implement TCO initiatives at certain customers.
