Quality Assurance Engineer

Established global engineering concern urgently requires the skills and experience of a Quality Assurance Engineer.

Minimum Requirements

Main Purpose of the position:

• Initiate and drive the quality control function within a project environment.
• Control and coordinate the QA/QC function with regards to inspection and testing activities
• Review and referral of concession requests, failure investigations and technical queries

Key Requirements:

• Matric
• Metallurgical Degree or Diploma
• Training in Metallurgical field
• Computer Literate in MS Office
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools and internal working procedures
• Certification/Training in most common Non-Destructive Test methods
• Knowledge and Use of QA/QC tools and applies standards to ensure products supplied by vendors meet defined standards

Job Specification

• Maintain the quality control plan through thorough and timeous review of QCPs for conformance to quality requirements and making intelligent recommendations on interventions.
• Thorough review of weld procedure specifications, welders qualifications and procedure qualification records from suppliers.
• Review and referral of concession requests and technical queries received to appropriate authorities and expediting the responses in a timely manner.
• Providing assistance during internal audits and performing audits on the QA department.
• Providing assistance during vendor assessments on suppliers/manufacturers and maintaining up to date records of vendor assessment reports.
• Participation in the Vendor council meetings.
• Perform and report failure analysis of equipment and provide technical support and engineering interface between engineering and QA department.
• Review data books prior to handing over to QA Administrator
• Monitor inspectors movements and planning of inspection activities.
• Analyse numerical data, verbal and all other sources of information
• Produce workable solutions to a range of problems

• Plan activities and projects well in advance and takes account of possible changing circumstances
• Monitors performance against deadlines and milestones

• Visit sites and vendors workshops to update knowledge base
• Interpret output data for quality evaluation
• Define quality standards to ensure quality along with cost effectiveness
• Ability to evaluate test results and write conclusive reports
