Managing Director

Our client is a market leader in the Sales and Distribution of diverse products into the Engineering, Mining Civil and Plumbing merchant industries.

They require the skills and talent of a suitable MANAGING DIRECTOR for their Port Elizabeth branch

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Relevant business management experience
  • Previous, proven track record within the mining, engineering and civils industries
  • Previous proven track record in staff management
  • Able to drive, develop and mentor staff to achieve business objectives
  • Proactive business individual
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to handle work related pressure – meeting of targets and deadlines consistently

Job Specification

Job responsibilities will include, but would not be limited to:

  • The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of Business Management within the wholesale / mining / civils / engineering industries within the region
  • Directing the Branch in order to achieve required sales and GP targets to ensure profitability
  • Directing the Branch, integrating the key functions of the business towards overall success and profitability
  • Management of staff
  • Maximisation of sales turnover at optimal GP levels
  • Optimal management of stock according to agreed stock models
  • Strong leadership and mentoring ability
  • Relative management reporting
  • Able to grow the Branch in line with Group targets and objectives

The ideal candidate will meet the above criteria and possess the following characteristics and attributes:

  • Matric or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Relevant business management experience
  • Previous, proven track record within the mining, engineering and civils industries
  • Previous proven track record in staff management
  • Able to drive, develop and mentor staff to achieve business objectives
  • Proactive business individual
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to handle work related pressure – meeting of targets and deadlines consistently
  • Advanced computer literacy MS Office, Word and Excel
  • Fluency in English and Afrikaans is a fixed employment requirement within the Group
  • In line with Group Recruitment Policy, preference will be given to AA candidates
