Cost Analyst

Client Overview:

Our client is a leading Canadian Energy Company with an impressive Capital Project Portfolio that includes multi-billion dollar developments.  These projects are entering early stages of the project lifecycle and a Project Controls Team is being assembled to help manage the current growth and next phases of the project.

Position Overview:

The Cost Analyst reports to and supports the Project Controls Lead and will be responsible for maintaining cost data integrity. Project assignment will be monitored by the Project Controls Manager. The Cost Analyst will support cost control services contributing to the timely and cost effective implementation of capital projects.

Responsibilities:

• Understand current project control system procedures to exercise control over technical quality of cost control, forecasting
• Understand current execution plan & contract strategy to support the re-cast of approved estimates into control baselines & forecasts for procurement, fabrication, module assembly and construction activities
• Facilitate the project requisitioning process through budget identification and cost code application
• Support the SAP requisition process through processing project requisitions and stewarding workflow approval
• Coordinate with Supply Chain Management, Contract Administration, Finance, Engineering Construction and the Off-Site Fabrication Team (OFT) to understand and identify changes, deviations and variances to ensure the forecast reflects potential and approved changes
• Facilitate project forecasting via the Project Change Notice process by actively participating in area team meetings
• Identifies and prepares cost estimates
• Establish and maintain communications with all project personnel
• Support the preparation and maintenance monthly cost reports providing variance explanations
• Complete reconciliations between PRISM, SAP and contractor systems
• Coordinate the preparation, consolidation and analysis of project reports assuming responsibility for overall completeness & accuracy.
• Support the Project Close-out Plan ensuring project control close-out activities are completed in a timely manner supporting Supply Chain
• Participate in encouraging an atmosphere of participation in continuous improvement and schedule effectiveness.

Requirements:

• Completion of post-secondary education; technical, finance or business Degree or Diploma
• Project Controls experience in the Costing Discipline
• Proven communication and organizational skills is a requirement
• A good understanding and use of the English language
• Understands interdepartmental procedures, processes and systems
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Previous experience in the application and use of PRISM Project Manager & SAP
