Senior Sales Representative

This group specializes in design, application engineering, project management, procurement, installation/ commissioning, and after-sales support.

This position is responsible for developing and executing the sales strategy for MAN Diesel & Turbo Canada Ltd. and supporting MAN globally, as the mining industry expert and diesel power plant sales representative.  The incumbent of this role will be accountable for developing sales leads and providing power plant design expertise to consultants in the mining industry, for the purpose of generating additional business for MAN. The role includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

Position responsibilities

  • Facilitate and participate in technical and commercial (terms & conditions), tender preparation and evaluations
  • Act as the company liaison and subject matter expert to mining consultants seeking expertise in diesel power plant development
  • Lead negotiations within predetermined parameters
  • Increase market share in existing markets and maximise new business development opportunities
  • Participate in various trade conferences (e.g. global mining and power plant conferences) to network with industry leaders and prospect possible business opportunities
  • Primary internal contact from initial contact with potential customer until the contract is signed, fully supported by Tendering, Engineering, Procurement and Project departments
  • Analyze customer needs and value-added solutions by delivering effective sales presentations
  • Assist customers with the development of power plant needs analysis, plant design specifications and future needs analysis
  • Sales target  - approximately $100 million dollars per annum
  • Develop and manage sales budgets: utilize appropriate metrics and reporting tools to measure and assess results
  • Achieve aggressive sales and margin targets through expanding sales capabilities, levels of service and product expertises

Skills and experience required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the global mining industry
  • Knowledge of power plants, preferably powered by diesel engines
  • Demonstrated sales success in the engineering services industry with complex sales
  • Seasoned sales executive with 10-15 years of related experience
  • Engineering degree or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Assertive, self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Ability to develop and retain key business, consultant and customer relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to interact within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Initiative and proactive approach combined with exceptional follow-up skills
  • Extensive travel, internationally, 50-75% of the time
  • Location, Oakville, Canada, (negotiable)
  • Language:  English, Spanish speaking an asset
