SHEQ Officer (SA Citizens Only)

We are searching for a competent SHEQ Officer responsible for co-ordinating the Quality, Environmental, Health, Safety, legal compliance programmes and related issues within the department. He is also responsible for ensuring that the business complies with all relevant SHEQ legislation, company policies and procedures, minimum requirements and permit requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Entry Requirements (Qualification)

• Matric.
• Management & implementation of SHEQ  management systems.
• Accident and incident recording and investigation.
• SHEQ auditing.
• SAMTRAC
• HIRA
• Bachelor Degree or National Diploma in Safety Management 
• Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and Working knowledge of safety systems
• Thorough knowledge of relevant local safety, security and environmental legislation, OHSACT, COID ACT, Environmental Conservation Act, DME regulations, Mine Health & Safety Act,

• Inspecting workplaces to investigate accidents, causes of ill-health and complaints
• Inspecting workplaces to enforce safety laws
• Examining ways to improve health and safety standards
• Negotiating with managers and employees to provide a safe working environment
• Developing health and safety programs and strategies
• Keeping up to date with the law and technical knowledge
• Writing reports
• Maintain ISO 9001 accreditation
• Manage ISO requirements and adherence to audit findings

Roles & Responsibilities (Job Requirements)

• Financial
• Assist in the preparation and management of budgets
• Business Process / Admin
• Coordination of SHEQ service providers
• Review compliance to regional rules and regulations
• Ensure that SHEQ meetings are held, recorded and document controlled
• Ensure / enforce contractors compliance
• Conduct accident investigations when required
• Assist management with the implementation of the SHEQ management system
• Assist in updating the SHEQ Management system to accommodate changes in legislation and Industry Standards.
• Ensure SHEQ document and data control systems are maintained by the responsible persons
• Promote SHEQ Awareness
• Monitor audit findings and recommend corrective and preventative actions
• Conduct and facilitate risk assessments
• Issue Non conformance’s where required
• Ensure management set objectives and targets for SHEQ compliance in the division
• Maintain control and training registers
• Maintain all site safety files.
• People/Development
• Develop and empower employees to take ownership of the SHEQ Management system
• Conduct regular awareness training on all sites
• Ensure health and safety representative, first aider, fire fighter and handling of hazardous material training is up to date.
