Diesel Mechanic (Underground Mining Equipment)

A fast growing mining company seeks a Diesel Mechanic for Underground mining operations for a fly-in-fly-out/permanent position on one of its multiple projects in Bolivia, South America.

PLEASE NOTE: Only South African Citizens will be considered.

Requirements:

  • Be in possession of a Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate / N3 with Mechanical Engineering (Diesel Mechanic) from an approved facility.
  • Minimum 7-10 years in the mining industry.
  • Sound knowledge of Atlas Copco machines, both operational and maintenance, have experience in a Supervisory capacity (General Engineering Superintendents).
  • Technical knowledge and experience in performing maintenance on Diesel engines and hydraulic systems on variety various mobile diesel driven equipment used in underground to support the production personnel as UG mining auxiliary machines.
  • Must be hands on, do the job himself
  • This is an Underground position and the incumbent must be fit for underground duty. 
  • Need an energetic, fit guy who will be able to walk up and down a decline a couple of times a day, if necessary – not older than 45.
  • The ability to work at altitude (above 4000m)
  • Adherence to engineering specifications and standards to assist with the proper application of specifications and standards to ensure that equipment meets requirements in terms of availability, quality and maintainability.
  • Strong engineering maintenance experience in above mentioned areas with the focus to prevent downtime.
  • Good leadership skills as well as the ability to teach national staff
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interface with Senior and Lower management across al disciplines and departments
  • Spanish is an advantage but not essential for the position.
  • Teachable & willingness to learn Spanish
  • Computer literate

Remuneration And Benefits:

  • Salary CAD$ 8000 - $10000 per month on an 8 week in 4 week out basis.
  • All expenses are paid by the Company, including flights to and from South Africa, accommodation and meals, Medical, etc.
