Sr. Industrial Wastewater Engineer – Anaerobic Treatment

Our Industrial Water/Wastewater Senior Engineer careers provide you the opportunity to utilize your expertise in anaerobic biological treatment to help grow our industrial water and wastewater business throughout North America and internationally as you provide our clients with both technical and business solutions. Each day, you will be an important team leader of [Company] industrial water/wastewater delivery team as you provide water and wastewater consulting and design capabilities specializing in biological treatment processes with a focus on anaerobic treatment. You should be a self-motivated professional engineer with 15 years of successful project experience, hold a Masters Degree in Chemical, Environmental or Civil Engineering and have a desire to grow professionally as well as personally with each new industrial water/wastewater engineering project.

Our Industrial Water/Wastewater Senior Engineers:

• Collaborate directly with clients, business development and project teams to develop technical and business solutions for client problems that are technically sound and differentiate [Company] in the market place.
• Possess extensive managerial and technical subject matter expertise with the following industrial water and wastewater service/subject matter areas: strategic planning, water and wastewater characterization/basis of design, conceptual alternatives evaluation/feasibility studies, treatability testing, process definition, full-scale water and wastewater system performance evaluations/troubleshooting, and water and wastewater treatment residuals management.
• Demonstrate process knowledge of anoxic, anaerobic and fermentation attached growth, suspended growth, and hybrid treatment processes as applied to biological residuals digestion, high strength xenobiotic organic chemicals, inorganic chemicals, cellulosic compounds and food waste.
• Are experienced with unit operation sizing, modeling, vendor equipment, design, methane/hydrogen gas management, operation and maintenance, performance evaluations, residuals management, pilot testing and bench scale testing for anaerobic treatment processes.
• Work closely with project managers and clients to guide project development, process evaluation and selection, and subsequent design as well as develop regulatory compliance approaches that maximize operating flexibility and reduce total project costs.
• Support the conceptual development team in ensuring water and wastewater process design perspectives are considered in technology selection and lead water and wastewater process design teams in finalizing engineering packages.
• Provide subject matter expertise with critical issues facing the industry in both upstream and downstream water and wastewater management including water scarcity, brine management, oily water treatment, and biological treatment.
• Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
• Drive ownership of health & safety in all aspects of project execution, office and personal environments.

Basic Qualifications

• BS in Chemical, Environmental or Civil Engineering or related engineering and science discipline required
• 15 years of experience including being the subject matter expert for applicable industrial water and wastewater treatment projects, with an emphasis on power and oil and gas industry water and wastewater treatment
• Proven competency in Anaerobic Treatment
• Recognized by professional community as technical leader in the core competency
• Proven capability to lead teams, mentor staff and teach developing engineers
• Understanding of business principles for selling and delivering consulting and design projects and related project delivery tools and metrics
• Strong team facilitation and client relationship building skills
• Well known and broadly respected by strategic clients, and nationally or internationally within the industry professional community
• Demonstrate commitment to the profession by active participation in professional societies, authoring of professional papers and presentations
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong working relationship with major clients and the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships is essential for this position is not an internally oriented function
• Ability to travel across North America and worldwide
• Proven experience working with clients and BD teams to scope and sell new projects
• Proven experience leading technical project teams and working with project managers to deliver successful projects to our clients

Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the basic qualifications, we also desire the following:

• MS or PhD in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering
• 20 years of experience including being the subject matter expert for applicable industrial water and wastewater treatment projects
• Experience in leading consulting and process design teams, coordinating work with all design disciplines and managing projects
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and teaching skills (proven record of mentorship), flexible and adaptable work style
• Expertise in applicable water and wastewater regulations and compliance strategies
• Experience with water / wastewater and regulatory compliance for petrochemical, petroleum refining, energy industries and mining
• Experience with water chemistry and water treatment process chemistry
• Registration as Professional Engineer
