Project Analyst
Department Description
- This position will provide financial support to Project Management, financial control for contracts, and in-depth financial analysis of contracts. This position contributes to the profitable execution of contracts through timely and accurate management reporting. It will also provide assistance to accounting, finance and project management on a variety of special projects.
Brief Description
- This position reports directly to the supervisor-project control; however, it must become an integral part of the project team. This position participates and contributes to the financial management of contracts by assisting the project management team in all financial aspects of contracts. The project analyst will monitor, analyze, and report contract status with respect to billings creation and forecasting, revenue and margin recognition, provisions and estimates to complete, cash flow, cost tracking, and variance analysis. This position is expected to identify and investigate problems, propose corrective action, and assist in the implementation of same.
Essential duties and accountabilities
- Control and implement financial procedures on contracts including billing, cost tracking, variance analysis, management reporting, etc.
- In-depth budget vs. actual variance analysis
- Identify accounting problems on contracts and propose corrective action.
- Assist project managers with "Cost & Margin" report completion and analysis.
- Assist project managers with "Executive Summary" report completion and analysis.
- Execute "engineering only" contracts including billing, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Audit site account expenditures and fund site accounts.
- Complete special projects as assigned including periodic billing forecasts and accounts receivable review.
- Provide accounting/financial support for external audit process.
Job Requirements
- B.S. in accounting or business
- 5-7 years of experience
Additional Details
- Knowledge of job cost, contract accounting and project management systems required. Strong analytical skills required, with the ability to communicate findings and recommendations to all levels of management. Proficiency in Excel required.
- Must take initiative, see a project through from start to finish, be able to anticipate next steps with little to no supervision.
- Oracle experience helpful
