Job Title: Senior Geologist

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Reports to: VP, Technical

The following will provide you with basic guidelines as to the duties required of this position.

Purpose:

The primary function of the Senior Geologist is to be responsible for working with the operator’s technical team to ensure that all geosciences (geology and geophysics) tasks are optimized.

Main Responsibilities & Activities:

• At on-set (non-operating partner), work with the operator’s technical team to ensure that all geosciences tasks are optimized in terms of planning, implementation, analysis/interpretation, and lesson learned application.
• Carry out all necessary tasks and work with operator technical team so that oil sands resources are fully, efficiently, and effectively evaluated.
• Work with other teams/persons in PTTEP Canada Limited for optimization of operator performance (through working with operations team).
• Prepare to be ready to take responsibilities as a Senior Geologist or higher position in a technical team of an operator.
• For future, be prepared as a Senior Geologist or higher position in a technical team to perform both non-operator and operator roles optimally.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• 15+ years working as a Geologist
• Geology, Geosciences, or other Sciences with experience in geology and geophysics in E&P industry.
• Basic experience in geophysical work and should have worked closely with geophysicists on various projects, prospect evaluation, and other tasks related to exploration geology and development geology.
• Experience in oil sands exploration and appraisal an asset.
• Must be able to think unconventionally in terms of identifying geological setting, identifying additional resources/in-place, performing geological analysis/evaluation, and geosciences methods/procedures.
• Strong influencing skills are required
