Process Engineer
- The Process Engineer will be reporting directly to the Plant Manager. The primary function of this position will be to focus on the design, operations, control, and optimization of chemical, physical, and biological processes through the aid of systematic computer-based methods.
- The primary responsibilities of the PE will be to maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers as well as evaluating the existing process and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability, and develop best practices within the production process.
- The Process Engineer will be working in a corporate environment but will also need to be available to go into plant sites and possible vendor locations, limited travel will be necessary.
Specific Responsibilities
- Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers
- Evaluate the existing process and configure manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process
- Make recommendations regarding machine modifications, statistical analysis of quality test data and the corresponding production/process data, and design of experiments
- Work with plant personnel to collect and evaluate process data to facilitate process improvements, which may involve active interaction with hourly and salaried personnel
Qualifications- Experience and Education
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, Mining, or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mineral processing facility or the equivalent
- Must have proven ability to work together with salaried and union personnel in a team-based, plant environment
Additional Qualifications
- Knowledge – theoretical and working knowledge of mineral processing basics including but not limited to slurry pumping, wet/dry screening, hydraulic classification, size reduction, fluid bed drying, material transport/storage, and silica sand finished product testing
- Knowledge of PLC operating systems a plus
- Problem analysis – must have strong analytical and problem solving skills; possess the skill to report data information in an understanding manner for reports
- Computer – proficiency; Microsoft Office skills; must have ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
- Creativity – ability to suggest new and unique approaches to existing methods of practices as well as a way to solve problems that arise
- Need to have a talent for prioritizing and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
