- Field Engineer I -- Eastern US
Position Summary:
- Reports to the GM Applications Technology Team. Responsible for the following:
- Position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of product and application trials and conversations to ensure project milestones and on-time delivery of tasks. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include addressing product complaints, resolving problems, blast design, preparation and detonation of planned explosive related blasts with correct, safe, and effective use of explosives in alignment with customer's requirements at locations serviced by DNNA. Provide on-the-job training and competency assessment to local Dyno Nobel blast crew personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Manage individual project related expenses (materials & travel).
- Contribute to achieving budgeted customer profitability as measured by EBIT.
- Management of all company assets to assist with achieving Company budgeted RONA.
- Ensure quality of service by minimizing losses related to blasting.
- Conduct pre-blast surveys e.g. face profiles, borehole deviation measurements, blast geometry measurements, product sampling, safety audits, etc.
- Conduct blast performance measurements, e.g. digital high-speed video, vibration monitoring, velocity of detonation, dynamic pressure, etc.
- Conduct post blast assessments, etc. fragmentation measurement, time studies, volumetric measurements, blast reporting & documentation
- Conduct time studies on personnel and equipment throughout an operation including: drill and blast operations, truck-shovel loading, dragline, processing, etc.
- Respond professionally and timely to address problems and business requests.
- Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability.
- Communicate effectively with all DynoConsult engineers and personnel.
- Comply with applicable regulatory health and safety policies and practices in order to ensure personal safety and the safety of all employees, company assets, environment and regulatory compliance.
- Effectively use and promote the MHP (Managing Human Performance) process for goal setting, providing feedback, developing employees and assessing job performance.
Requirements:
- Four-year degree in Mining, Geo-technical, Mineral, and/or Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering. Advanced Degree in Geo-technical, Civil Engineering, Computer Sciences, etc., or, equivalent time/experience in job with proven skills.
- Minimum 3 years working experience with progressively increasing professional responsibility with leading edge technology to achieve results.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in explosives or geo-technical related field.
Technical:
- Must satisfy the requirements for a "Possessor of Explosives" as defined by the Bureau of Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
- Acquire and maintain all appropriate licenses and certifications required by federal, state and county entities (e.g. blaster licenses and CDL's for commercial drivers with HAZMAT, Air Brakes and applicable endorsements).
- Current MSHA certification for Part 46 and 48.
- More training may be necessary as prescribed by state or local law.
