- Senior Scientist
Position Summary:
- Reports to Sr Manager/Global Initiation Systems Technology. Responsible for the following:
- Perform research and development activities of a project nature on various new products and improvements to existing products to support research and production activities in accordance with business objectives.
Essential Functions:
- Apply and enforce regulatory health and safety requirements and implement the DN HSE Management System in order to ensure personal safety and the safety of all employees, company assets, and environment and regulatory compliance.
- Conceptualize and develop new products or improve existing products in order to improve the quality of [Company] products in accordance with company goals.
- Conduct laboratory and pilot scale testing on new or improved products in order to ensure safe and accurate testing.
- Record and maintain results of all tests conducted in order to support analyses and share results with supervisors, sales representatives, or customers.
- May provide assistance with patent filing to ensure accurate and timely filing.
- Conduct management planning to coordinate the testing of new products in order to ensure timely testing.
- May analyze competitor's products in order to develop new products capable of strengthening DN's competitive advantages.
- May supervise scientists in testing of products in order to assure trained personnel and accurate testing.
- Comply with applicable regulatory health and safety policies and practices in order to ensure personal safety and the safety of all employees, company assets, environment and regulatory compliance.
- Effectively use and promote the MHP (Managing Human Performance) process for goal setting, providing coaching and feedback, developing employees and assessing job performance.
- Other duties may be assigned within the capabilities of the successful candidate, as determined by management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in chemistry, chemical engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10 years laboratory experience, or equivalency, with progressively increasing professional responsibility with leading edge technology to achieve results.
- Experience and familiarity with common analytical instrumentation and software.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Excellent decision making, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel responsibly and productively on company business with emphasis on creating a positive company image.
- Adequate technical writing, computer, experimental design, and data analysis skills.
Preferences:
- Master’s Degree
- 4 years supervisory experience
Work Environment & Physical Conditions:
- Ability to wear and care for applicable personal protective equipment (such as, safety glasses and shoes, respirator, hard hat and ear protection, safety harness) as required by site specific requirements
- Able to work in a variety of conditions, can be outdoors in all weather conditions of temperature and climate
- Able to tolerate physical requirements in field and plant work such as lifting of 60 lbs. or more.
