Staff Environmental Scientist

  • [Company] is seeking an Air Quality Engineer or Scientist for our DENVER office to perform regulatory air dispersion modeling and assist with air permitting services for a variety of industrial sectors.

Candidate should have coursework and/or experience in the following areas:

  • Air dispersion modeling for regulatory compliance
  • Air emissions estimation
  • Meteorology and climatology
  • Experience in air permitting (Title V, PSD, minor source), source testing, and emissions inventory development is beneficial. Colorado experience preferred. Applicant must be skilled in the use of Microsoft software, including Excel, WORD, Access, and PowerPoint. Must be self-motivated, professional, and capable of executing projects in a timely manner with guidance from senior staff. Problem-solving abilities a must. Applicant must have a strong technical background, excellent writing and communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Field assignments may involve the following activities:

  • Driving an automobile or van to/from a job site as well as around the job site
  • Work at high altitudes
  • Walking over uneven ground, sometimes with wheelbarrows/carts
  • Being outside in all seasons - including inclement weather - hot or cold weather, snow, ice, and wind
  • Collection of samples
  • Calibration and use of instruments to record conditions and measurements
  • Use and movement of equipment, such as sampling stations, ropes, measuring tapes
  • Preparation of samples and shipment of samples
  • Observing/reading electronic monitoring equipment

Basic and Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum years of experience: 3-5
  • Education required: BS Chemical, Civil, Environmental Engineer or Scientist or related discipline or BS in Meteorology.
  • Skills required: Solid technical education with emphasis on air quality and the environmental compliance field.

Additional and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education preferred: MS Chemical, Civil, Environmental Engineer or Scientist or related discipline or BS in Meteorology.
  • Registrations/Certifications preferred: F.E.
  • Skills preferred: Specific experience using USEPA regulatory air dispersion models, including AERMOD. Experience using proprietary dispersion modeling systems, such as Lakes, Breeze, or BEEST is preferred. Current 40-hour HAZWOPER or 40-hour MSHA training.
  • This position does require travel. Travel amount is negligible.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
  • This position does not manage others.
