Geotechnical Engineer

Our client a programme and project management consultancy specialising in renewable and non-renewable energy is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join their team

Minimum Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary degree in either Mining Engineering and / or Geotechnical Engineering
  • At least five years mining experience in an open pit mining environment, preferably with coal mining experience
  • Pit wall geotechnical instrumentation and analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Advanced PC skills and computer literacy, including experience with standard geotechnical software packages.

Job Specification

  • Development and implementation of standards and procedures with respect to slope stability monitoring and control.
  • Work in close conjunction with the environmentalist with respect to surface water run off and ground water flows.
  • Work in close conjunction with the exploration geologist to evaluate and assess structural disturbances with respect to the mine ability of the reserve.
  • Advise and assist with geotechnical issues with regard to mine planning, mine sequencing and pit design.
