Senior Mining Engineer-Resource Planning and Development

The Opportunity

The EKATI Diamond Mine is currently seeking self-motivated experienced professional to fill the role Senior Mining Engineer with Resource Planning and Development.  The position is a technical role that provides mine planning support for the business strategy.   The incumbent performs all duties for this position in accordance with Company Polices, Management Systems and Standard Operating Procedures.

The Responsibilities

·        Contribute to the development of the annual Resource Development Plan and Life-Of-Asset Plan.

·        Provide resource development guidance to short-term planners and operations.

·        Develop mining strategies that maximize value.

·        Optimize current mining systems from excavation to closure.

·        Prepare long term mining schedules, capital and operating cost estimates.

The Requirements

·        Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Mine Engineering.

·        Extensive experience in mine planning.

·        Knowledge of industry best practice in safety and environment.

·        Exposure to project management, financial management and cost controlling skills.

·        Mine design and scheduling software experience (Vulcan, Whittle & XPAC).

To be successful in this position you will have strong communication, strategic planning, project management, and interpersonal skills. A solid understanding of mine design, geology, mineral processing and economic principles will be complemented by the willingness to learn, to drive change and improve current standards.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

This position is located at the Yellowknife Corporate Office and works a Monday-Friday schedule. Excellent compensation, comprehensive benefits program and relocation assistance is available.
