Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but is not necessarily limited to the following:
- Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
- Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying materials, equipment, machinery and supplies.
- Interview and hire staff, oversee staff training.
- Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies and evaluate suppliers.
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies and procedures.
- Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, produces or substitute materials.
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers.
- Provide project specific leadership and management for the procurement of engineered equipment, subcontract work, professional services, and commodities on large projects throughout North America.
- Prepare/issue Request for Proposals (RFPs) and evaluate vendor/subcontractor proposals to identify vendors/subcontractors who meet project constraints of budget and schedule.
- Negotiate commercial terms and conditions with equipment and material vendors and subcontractors, consulting with corporate attorneys and senior management to minimize project and corporate risk while maintaining commercial competitiveness.
- Communicate and enforce procurement procedures to project team.
- Provide training and conduct procurement related audits to ensure procedures are followed.
- Responsible for projections, financial planning, expediting, delivery schedules and project purchasing reporting.
- Long Term relocation and short-term field assignments will be required.

Computer Skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) and have a general knowledge of database utilization.
Education and/or Experience
- Must have a BA/BS in business, engineering or equivalent degree and/or a minimum of 5 years work/military experience in engineering and/or construction. Possess knowledge of engineered equipment procurement common in the power industry.
