EHS Coordinator

Basic Function:

  • The [Company] Production Solutions (JCPS) Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for supporting and maintaining compliance with all John Crane, Smiths Group, and regulatory objectives, policies, and requirements.
  • As a member of the EHS team, the EHS Coordinator will directly contribute to the creation of a world class safety environment and assist in the reduction of the environmental impacts of operations across all John Crane Production Solutions facilities in North America. This position reports to the [Company] Americas EHS Manager. It has one direct report, the JCPS EHS Technician.

Primary Duties:

  • Evaluate current EHS programs and activities to ensure compliance with all government agencies and related regulations.
  • Report, monitor, and correct environmental, health, and safety problems/issues.
  • Guide and promote safe work performance by developing proactive EHS systems, policies, and procedures; develop safety and environmental campaigns, communications, and recognitions in line with Division strategies.
  • Conduct training for managers and employees.
  • Implement and maintain ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certification and OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System Certification for Big Spring, Texas and Midland, Texas facilities.
  • Conduct legal compliance audits, write and update procedures, training, etc.
  • Provide assistance and review all JCPS incident investigations, ensure corrective and preventive actions are appropriate, completed timely, and lessons learned communicated.
  • Provide and ensure all EHS reporting is completed, including monthly reporting, customer prequalification forms, and other requested information.
  • Implement and maintain loss prevention programs to achieve highly protected risk status.
  • Assist in achieving JCPS and Division environmental and safety goals.
  • Coordinate all energy use, water use, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and waste generation reduction projects. Conduct capital expenditure requests and present a business case for all projects.
  • Generate EHS performance metrics to measure performance progress and to evaluate EHS and loss prevention program effectiveness within JCPS.
  • Assist in ensuring timeliness and accuracy of OSHA and EPA recordkeeping and reporting, including OSHA 300 log reporting, Title V permit recordkeeping, and other federal and state reports.
  • Determine training requirements and aid specific sites and departments in completing training.
  • Work with management, supervisors, and employees with all environmental, health, and safety programs, projects, and training as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • International and domestic travel up to 30% required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. Non-degreed candidates will not be considered.
  • Requires 3 to 5 years of related work experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations and requirements (EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc.).
  • Strong working knowledge of federal air permitting programs, including Title V.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 EHS management systems required. Preference to having previously implemented a management system in an industrial setting.
  • Experience in manufacturing and the oil, gas, or petrochemical industries is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in the technical fundamentals of safety management and risk assessments and reduction, including machinery and process safety, industrial hygiene, loss prevention, ergonomics and occupational health.
  • Excellent presentation and training skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment while managing multiple assignments with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence others who may have conflicting priorities or agendas.
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • ASP or CSP desired, but not required.

Location:

  • This position can be based in either Midland, Texas or Big Spring, Texas.
