Gold Fields operates two mines in Regional Western Australia and has its main Corporate Office in West Perth.

Role Details

Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking a Corporate Accountant to join their Finance Department in the Corporate Office in West Perth.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for contributing to the sustainable operations of the company through the provision of a comprehensive accounting function that meets internal compliance and legislative requirements.

This role is Perth based and is offered on a standard 5 days on 2 days off working week.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Contributing to company and statutory compliance obligations;
  • Influencing and engaging stakeholders by building productive and constructive interpersonal relationships both internally and externally to facilitate the timely accomplishment of goals, including the timely receipt of periodic reportable information;
  • Assistance in the Groups monthly transfer pricing requirements, service level agreements, taxation documentation and preparation of reconciliations;
  • Ensuring that the activities of the finance team are consistently aligned with meeting operational targets by conducting regular inspections and audits of their work specifically checking compliance of established standards and procedures in relation to legislative and audit requirements;
  • Contributing to the business' compliance requirements by ensuring systems processes, advice and outputs meet Sarbanes Oxley standards;
  • Ensuring that the company has adequate financial controls in place to meet its obligations by maintaining business accounting and administration systems including the General Ledger, bank transactions, cash flow, authorisations for expenditure, fixed assets registers, business analysis, accounts payable, receivable, payroll, fringe benefit tax, business activity statements and relevant reporting;
  • Ensuring that the Company has all pertinent information prepared for relevant recipients using specified formats by assisting the finance team in the coordination of ad-hoc, month end, quarterly and annual reporting; and,
  • Ensuring sustained growth of the business by continually identifying and reporting on cost reduction and income generation opportunities within the department to enhance business performance.
 Key factors to your success include:
  • Bachelor of Commerce/ Business (Major in Accounting);
  • Experience in professional practice or accounting in a mining environment;
  • Intermediate Level in Microsoft Office applications; and,
  • CA or a CPA qualification is desirable.
