Electrician

The successful candidate will be required to maintain ore processing and related electrical equipment according to sound engineering practice and equipment specifications.

Key Performance Areas:

Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to the maintenance requirements
Attend to defects raised on pre-start reports, breakdown sheet and over-inspection reports
Perform equipment over-inspection on work done by apprentices and operatives where appropriate and provide feedback and guidance as required
Provide relevant feedback to the foreman and co-workers regarding equipment performance and conditions
Carry out scheduled and non-scheduled electrical repairs and installation work as required
Discuss work backlog and future work requirements with the section foreman and plan corrective measures to rectify e.g. re-scheduling, prioritising, labour assistance, etc.
Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure
Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform on maintenance activities performed and availability of equipment
Adhere to policies and procedures and company values
Perform all functions included in the above duties and responsibilities with due regard to the health, safety and the environment
Work overtime, standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise

Skills/ Competencies:

Be independent, proactive thinker and have the ability to do own job planning
Good communication skills
Basic knowledge of variable speed and soft starters
Competent High Tension reticulation switching and protection
Sound electrical maintenance skills and knowledge
Planning, coordinating and prioritizing skills
Analysis and interpretation skills
Siemens equipment
SEMICODE
VSD’s
HT/LT switching (4R Relays and Software)
Profibus

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 or N2
Electrical Trade Certificate
Recognized apprenticeship
Code EB Drivers license
At least 3 years Plant Maintenance experience
Medically fit
Must not be colour blind
