Contracts Buyer

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Contracts Buyer, within the Procurement Department at the Company's Head Office. The successful candidate will report to the Contracts Buyer Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

Have a commercial tertiary qualification
Planning, organisation and negotiation skills
Contract writing; Contract Administration and Management skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Sound report writing skills
Computer literate
Be fully conversant in English

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

Have in excess of 5 years experience in a Supply Chain environment
Knowledge of Procurement policies and procedures
Mining industry experience will be an added advantage
JD Edwards experience will be an added advantage

Job Specification

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
Drafting of contract agreements and relevant SLA's, including terms and conditions as well as detailed pricing schedules for services and/or commodity purchases of high risk / value and ongoing nature
Ensuring that all contracts adhere to Contract Law principles and are executed ethically and with minimal commercial risk to the Company.
Reviewing the performance of suppliers according to the Contracts and SLA's in order to measure and manage Supplier Performances and Contracts
Issuing Procurement Tenders; negotiating; evaluating and finalising Contracts with suppliers to obtain maximum savings, value add and return on investment for the Company.
Identify frequently purchased commodities in order to convert these to long-term Contracts to optimise business processes and add value to the Supply Chain
Address internal customer queries/complaints with regards to suppliers or services rendered by suppliers
Ensure a full audit trail regarding all procurement decisions and actions
Report writing and submission of reports to the Procurement Steercom Committee
Ensure compliance to all relevant Supply Chain policies and procedures
Client liaison, which includes arranging and attending regular meetings on site
