Manager E, C & I Engineering (R65 000 – R75 000 CTC per month)

International company based in the East Rand has a fantastic opportunity for a Manager: E, C & I Engineering to manage, coordinate and provide all the aspects of the electrical, control and instrumentation engineering for project execution.

Minimum requirements:

• 8 - 10 years' experience (a portion of that time managing an Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering team as either Lead Principle/ Principle Engineer)
• Extensive construction experience
• PR Eng essential
• Extensive experience on multidisciplinary engineering projects essential

Job Specification

Requirements and job duties:

• Manage the preparation of design documentation including plant layout design;
• Manage the preparation of single line diagrams, electrical load list, IO lists, alarm and trip lists, trip matrix's, control architecture, loop diagrams, MCC/PLC cabinet layouts,etc.;
• To obtain cost estimates for Instrumentation, control systems, electrical motor control centres in order to prepare tenders/proposals;
• To obtain cost estimates for Installation and commissioning of all items related to electrical, control and Instrumentation in order to prepare tenders/proposals;
• Assist the Sales team during tender stage with the assessment of client specifications to prepare proposals/reports on policy, procedural and operational matters;
• Ensure work is performed according to standard engineering principles and practices;
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with client specifications;
• To direct, develop and ensure the implementation of company standards and develop and maintain a reliable engineering base;
• Preparation of sub-contractor electrical, control and instrumentation scope of work & specification;
• Preparing detailed schedules for instrumentation, cables and equipment;
• Technical adjudication and sub-contractor evaluation;
• To monitor and review design, hardware and software products relating to automation and information technologies;
• Review and oversee work of colleagues in the department;
• Maintain currency of professional competence and specialist knowledge;
• To represent the company during meetings;
• Problem solving and operational support when needed;
• Manage the preparation of Process control documentation;
• Assist with the compilation of all instrument, controls and electrical operation and maintenance information;
• Planning and managing execution of EC&I activities;
• Ensure that the EC&I design intent is implemented in the installation of equipment especially where deviations or concessions are required;
• Preparation of As Built EC&I documentation;
• To oversee, check and approve, where appropriate, the work of colleagues in the department;
• To direct investigations into problem areas arising and to endorse solutions;
• To arrange and co-ordinate any supplementary actions from external consultants and sub-contractors;
• Writing of reports when required;
• On site construction assistance, verification, SAT's and Check sheets;
• Assist with Performance testing and reporting;
• To represent the company during meetings;
• Management, support and motivation of EC&I staff.
