Manager of Corporate Training

General Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for managing the development and implementation of corporate training with a strong focus on sales training and employee development.  Person will lead a staff responsible for the development and delivery of sales and customer training curriculum, both “in-class” as well as via “continuing education” courses.  In addition this person will work across the company to lead the development and implementation of other business critical training programs.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Highest business priority for training: Establish the strategic direction for sales training on a global basis, with focus on “in-class” and “continuous education” program development and execution.  Also lead strategic efforts on the development of influential training curriculum (customer, industry, academia) to drive added awareness of [Company] solutions externally
  • In addition to Sales Focus, work alongside cross-functional leaders to assess training and development needs of business functions including, but not limited to, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, HR, Operations – determine right areas of focus/need to support overall business growth objectives
  • Partner with managers & executives in the effective identification, creation, and utilization of learning and development programs to support business growth objectives
  • Conduct analysis of training and organizational needs, build multidisciplinary solutions, and work collaboratively with cross functional teams to develop and implement solutions (Engineering, Product Management, Sales, HR, etc.)
  • Continually lead efforts to assess sales force for strengths and skill gaps and identify programs to address competency gaps; Lead similar process approach to other business functions
  • Manage Team of training leaders, content developers/designers, and coordinators on global basis ensuring right prioritization of activities in line with business strategy in addition to developing this team for future growth opportunities across the company
  • Leverage newer, non-conventional training technologies to maximize sales team learning potential close to the point of sale
  • Monitor and report effectiveness of training programs -  research, benchmark, propose training and development opportunities to drive continuous improvements
  • Responsible for managing department expenses in line with approved training budget – help build strategic plans and ROI for improvements required to enhance training program
  • Identification and coordination of external resources to address specialized training needs as necessary
  • Partner with operations and facilities management to ensure proper upkeep of training facilities on global basis – identify improvements required to help world-class approach

Qualifications:
Required qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree desired in education, psychology, marketing, or instructional design; Desirable qualification: Master’s degree or greater in education, psychology, marketing, or instructional design
  • Eight to ten years of experience with adult learning (classroom, virtual, and blended modalities), instructional design, competency development, and organizational development in a corporate environment (industrial BtoB preferred)
  • Proven leadership and employee development skills to further mentor and develop both direct team and indirect employees
  • Proven ability to develop and implement training and development on a global basis and cross functions
  • Superior communication and presentation skills and experience facilitating training for all levels and functions of employees with ability to tailor delivery styles to fit needs of audience.
  • Outstanding computer skills and working knowledge of relevant software including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, MS Office (focus on PowerPoint), Flash Catalyst, and CS5 Knowledge of Lotus Notes and LMS (learning management system) architectures a plus
  • Ability to communicate and interact across business and with vendors as required; work in team-oriented environment
  • Strong analytical skills, business planning, and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a global environment with sensitivities to cultural differences
  • Passion for excellence, high level of energy, strong ability to energize others
  • Ability to meet and maintain departmental goals regarding budgets and objectives
  • Ability to work with varying levels of management to translate their areas of focus into training programs that effectively communicates their message to the desired audience
  • Willing and able to travel up to 30% of time
