Machine Shop: Large Casting Inspector needed! (1st shift)

Brief Description

• This opening focuses on 2 areas within the Open Gearing Value Stream (at the Canal Street facility). The successful candidate is expected to learn and become proficient with layout operations in addition to learning related machining operations. Candidates will be required to flex to each of these areas depending on work load requirements.

Key Accountabilities

• Lay out large castings to prove dimensions prior to machining, and lay out finished machined parts for secondary drilling operations.
• Operate related machinery on a wide variety of large work pieces.  
• Use remote overhead crane to hitch and move jobs for machining operations, removing chips, oiling of machines, and assisting with overhead crane operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including cross training as needed.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Commitment to working a high level of overtime is an expectation for anyone considering this position.  

Desirable Experience, Capabilities and Success Factors

• The ideal candidate has previous machine shop experience with a strong background in shop math (including figuring out and calculating angles).
• Prefer Journeyman’s credentials.
• Pattern Maker skills desired.
• The ability to read drawings and use basic precision measuring tools is essential.
