Construction Support Specialist I

Job Description

• Performs a broad range of technical responsibilities for Project Manager with minimum supervision. Provides coordinating leadership to the Project Team
• Reports on the Team’s progress to the Project Manager. Authoritatively Leads Estimate Reviews, Risk Reviews, Constructability Reviews, Schedule Reviews, and other meetings assigned by Project Manager.
• Evaluates, selects, and applies electrical construction techniques, materials, and procedures using solid engineering judgment. Coordinates the work of engineering technicians, draftsmen, material buyers, estimators, project controls technicians and other personnel who provide assistance on specific assignments. Remains knowledgeable of current codes (NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110) and other specified standards. Assists Engineering, Estimating, and Project Management with regard to construction-related issues identified on drawings. Technically evaluates proposed vendors and contractors for project suitability. Prepares work packages and work scopes for the preparation of requisitions for subcontracted services. Technically evaluates quotes and bids from contractors and suppliers. Investigates and resolves engineering and technical-related problems. Develops ROM estimates and providing value engineering alternatives. Takes action authorized during Project Manager’s absence and uses initiative and judgment to see that matters requiring attention are referred to the proper manager(s) or handled in a manner so as to minimize the effect of the Project Manager’s absence. Basic Job Requirements

• Engineering degree or equivalent electrical project experience. Minimum of 6 years of broad electrical project experience. Familiarity with underground Medium Voltage distribution principles and products. Familiarity with Diesel Generators and Automatic Transfer Switches. 
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Email file management, (e.g. Access, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat Pro, and Lotus Notes). Exceptional ability to multitask and (re)prioritize workload. Superior organizational skills. Ability to work in a rapid tempo environment with constantly changing priorities. 
• Displays initiative and anticipates Department actions and needs. Superior ability to exert influence without direct authority. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Mentoring Skills. Good judgment. Leadership and sound decision-making skills. Extreme flexibility.

Other Job Requirements

• In-depth understanding of [Company] OSR requirements for Proposals and Estimates. Design / build project experience. Firm Fixed Price experience. Familiarity with UK Electrical Code (BS7671) and 50Hz Electrical Systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Master Electrician or electrical Contractor’s Qualifying Agent. CONOPS experience (contingency operations – especially in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan).
