Sr. Project Manager, Construction & Store Design / Layout
CENTRAL & WESTERN CANADA – TORONTO, ON
Reporting to our Vice President of Corporate Planning & Development, you will be responsible for managing all Store construction related projects (green-fields and store merges, revamps, expansions and re-locations) in Central and Western Canada for our NAPA Auto Parts Division and Heavy Vehicles Parts Division. You will manage all ongoing and new construction projects; building and move-in/move-out inspections and required countermeasures and corrections; and environmental analysis. This position will be centralized out of the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario.
You will visit / inspect buildings pre-selected for each Network Development Project to support UAP’s site and building selection process; Evaluate type of work (structural, mechanical, HVAC, electrical systems) that may be required, as well as all associated costs. This will also apply to any potential acquisitions;
You will manage store design / layout plans development process to ensure the best possible option that will meet business / operational requirements and financial prerequisites;
You will manage all phases (activities / budgets / timelines / quality of work) of the construction projects once approved by UAP’s Development Committee (RFP preparation, Bids and quotes evaluation, hiring and on-going management of Architects, Engineers, Contractors / Sub-contractors and other type of suppliers if required);
You will pro-actively participate in the 3-years Building Inspection Cycle and Preventive Maintenance Program that UAP has introduced for all his locations across the country (owned and leased buildings); and
You will manage all activities related to Phase 1 and 2 of Environmental Studies related to buildings and sites whenever required (risk evaluation, supplier selection, contract management, work and budget supervision).
Ideally, you have Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Commercial Building construction projects. A General Contractor License would be an asset! You have a minimum of twelve (12) years’ of relevant experience coupled with excellent knowledge of Construction Project Management techniques, tools, software, building and construction codes, environmental requirements and laws.
You are results and action-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and capacity to multi-task. You have the ability to investigate and synthesize information. You have high comfort level with financial, market and technical information; and possess strong interpersonal & negotiation skills. You must demonstrate initiative, creativity, self-confidence and assertiveness; and are able to work autonomously with distant supervision. Frequent business travel within Central and Western Canada is required.
