Job Description

  • A Hydratight Product Manager (PM) is a cross-functional leader of a portfolio category and a matrix product team which is formed to optimize the products within the portfolio’s market position and financial return over its life cycle.  This individual is charged with developing and implementing a global category strategic plan in order to achieve the financial objectives set for products within the category.

Business Contribution:

  • Responsible for the strategic management of the global services product line including weld testing, heat treatment, hot tapping and Injectaseal businesses and the development and implementation of strategies/plans to meet business objectives (new product revenue growth, overall product line revenue growth, profit growth).
  • The services mentioned have a technology or product element that supports the service but is typically not a standalone sale or rental item. These services have not been integrated on a global scale into Hydratight and operate on a small scale at the local level or in some cases have yet to be launched commercially. The primary objective of this role is to evaluate the market potential of these services, identify the attractive market segments and fulfillment gaps, prioritize, work with regions and functions to enable fulfillment, and launch/scale-up the service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and prioritize the service product line strategic plan and value proposition and implement that plan in order to globalize the services portfolio and achieve marketing, sales and financial performance objectives for the category.
  • Identify, evaluate and implement programs to reduce product costs within assigned category
  • Monitor key market and product line performance metrics and develop initiatives to meet the objectives for those metrics.
  • Identify and develop new products to meet business objectives.
  • Develop new product specifications in conjunction with engineering, sales and manufacturing teams.
  • Conduct global market analysis of Market Size, Competitors, Channels, Key Industry Segments and End-user Requirements for assigned category
  • Define global customer requirements in product features, service, technical application, pricing and delivery.
  • Project management of the new product development process ensuring specifications are met along with budgets and schedules.
  • Work with the financial analysts to set pricing levels and drive programs to deliver product costs that obtain revenues/gross margins to meet the operating plan.
  • Liaise with sales management to conduct appropriate new product launch schedule and conduct applicable sales training.
  • Develop methods for field-testing to determine market acceptance; evaluate the effectiveness of promotional and advertising programs and recommend improvements or changes
  • Develop and implement new marketing strategies and work closely with Marketing Communications to provide technical data for the production of literature and collateral material required to support the service sales.
  • Forecast global annual product requirements and provide targeted inventory levels to achieve working capital performance, as well as, customer service goals.
  • Maintain quality, safety and environmental standards and take any corrective actions as required
  • Lead and participate in process improvement activities and use appropriate tools – kaizen events, value stream maps, 6S etc…

Required Skills

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, relative technical field or equivalent previous experience.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in marketing, engineering and/or sales role.
  • Experience or high exposure to service business in international markets is strongly preferred.
  • Sustained record of self-motivated industrial/manufacturing sales, marketing or engineering achievements.
  • Demonstrated, strong management skills to lead a team or champion concurrent projects.
  • Strong business presentation skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills in a proactive and progressive business environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency using electronic spreadsheet, database, word processing and graphical presentation software, preferably Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and Power Point).
  • Domestic and international travel required.
  • Analytical and problem solving approach
  • Able to multi-task and project manage
  • Works to tight deadlines
  • Works with minimal supervision
  • Takes full responsibility for completion of own and team objectives
