Underground Transit Technician

Job Description

• The Underground Transit Technician will travel to all underground mine operations and will work alongside other Transit Technicians and Rod Technicians.  Other duties include, but are not limited to, setting spads for room and pillar underground coal mining, posting/measuring mine entries, being a Transit Technician for underground level loops and check surveys, posting/measuring middle-of-month and end-of-month mine works mark ups, measuring total seam/coal heights, taking channel samples, day-to-day organization of surveying equipment and supplies, cleaning of the surveying vehicles and surveying storage room, cleaning surveying equipment, making numbered surveying tags, transporting materials or surveying equipment, driving company owned vehicles and delivering mine mapping.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside a Rod Technician to perform the above noted tasks.
• Report to a surveying supervisor who will guide and direct what will be done and where it is to be done on a daily basis

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience
• 0-2 years’ experience in underground or surface engineering department
• Valid West Virginia underground black hat miner card
• Knowledge of mining practices as it relates to Transit Technician and surveyor responsibilities
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate & be well organized
• Team player & highly motivated
