Engineering Assistant - Surveyor (Transitman)

Position Summary:

• Responsible for the day-to-day surveying activities for Emerald Mine. Ensures the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of survey data.
• Job Specific and/or Technical Skills Required:
• Proficient with current surveying practices.  Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and SurvCAD.  Understand Mine Ventilation

Major Responsibilities:

• Ensures CM and Longwall stations are installed on a timely and accurate basis
• Performs check surveys
• Maintains an up-to-date control map of the current section locations
• Reconciles actual mine production vs. reported
• Maintains accurate records of surveying notes
• Monthly compilation of longwall and CM footage mined
• Maintains the surveying operating supplies and equipment
• Provides survey support to the various surface and underground groups
• Supports and propagates Corporate initiatives such as; GEM, Running Right, EOT, and SCI
• Trains and develops Chainman to fill-in as Transitman when necessary

Job Requirements:

• AS/BS accredited degree in Surveying Technology or Surveying Engineering or related field
• In lieu of education, must have at least one year's experience in surveying

Preferred:

• PA Underground Miners Certification
• Federal Gas Detection Qualification
• Licensed Surveyor
• Mine Examiner (PA)
