Mechanical Specialist

An international Engineering Company which is a subsidiary of a large global company based in Richards Bay seeks suitably qualified individual to analyse and recommend solutions to customers technical problems and give technical assistance to customers, suppliers, maintenance, production and engineering entities.

Minimum Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering Degree / Diploma
• Mechanical Trade experience (advantage)
• Pro E software (advantage)
• Registration with ECSA (advantage)
• 5 years experience
• Developing technical solutions
• Technical analysis
• High level technical support to external customer
• Modelling of designs on Pro E
• Project management
• Supervision of team
• HSEQ
• Hands on approach

Job Specification

• Check feasibility as well as conceptual and detailed design of improvements, while respecting Company and local standards.
• The Incumbent will be required to liaise with branch in France.
• Manage mechanical projects including design, manufacture, installation, site meetings and commissioning.
• High level of safety awareness.
• Research and designs within the Engineering department will form part of the duties.
• Customer support and technical assistance
• Assist and advise customers on any technical matters related to the company products
• Maintain on-going contact with customers to be aware of their technical problems
• Analyse and solve clients technical  problems
• Develop an analysis system for all technical problems
• Keeping track of technical requests so as to minimize the delay for response to customers technical enquiries
• Initiate actions for improvements in liaison with the branch in France
• Study the feasibility of items and design items for improvements to the company equipment
• Design calculations and technical specifications
• Estimating the time, details and what is required for any improvement or modification
• Ensure the quality of any modification on customers equipment
• Follow up projects from feasibility study to completion and commissioning
• Initiate actions for improvements in liaison with branch in France
• In-house technical assistance i.e. Advise on production / manufacturing procedures for critical items, technical assistance to suppliers where necessary
• Assist on quality assurance and control to guarantee company standards
• Implement and manage departmental technical documentation in line with company standards
• Define and implement mechanical  design procedures and standards for local manufacturing
• Implement and manage a drawing office in line with the company standards
• Organize and implement a filing system for documentation and drawings related to projects
• Define and implement a design procedure
