CBS Technician

2 Positions exists for CBS Technicians (one in Welkom and Rustenburg), the chosen candidates will be involved in installation & commissioning of all centralised blasting equip. on surface and underground

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications and Expertise required:

• Tertiary qualification in the field of electrical/electronic engineering (Diploma plus 3yrs exp or Degree plus 2yrs exp.)
• MUST BE TRADE TESTED (not negotiable)
• Valid Code 8 Drivers Licence.
• Applicants MUST be able to obtain a Red Ticket.

Specific experience required:

• At least 5yrs experience in the underground mining industry.
• Extensive knowledge of the World Class System will be advantageous.

Required Outputs

Safety:

• Be conversant with Safe Blasting modules and safety policies.
• Be familiar with, and adhere to, all safety aspects of the product and its application, as well the safety standards and procedures of the relevant mines.
• Ensure adherence to relevant SHE standards within the company.

Functional:

• Assist with selling the added benefits of computer aided centralised blasting systems internally as well as externally.
• Educate and train regional sales teams as well as end-users in the proper and safe use of the system.
• Maintaining an engineering feedback database.
• Provide technical support to customers.

General:

• The position requires involvement in dealing with management at all levels in the organisation as well as the support of field staff.
• Problem solving as well as decision making are critical at all times.
• Identify situations that could create network problems by analysing the network characterisation readings and eliminating them before they happen.
• Must be willing tor travel locally between various mines making use of the CBS.
