Mining Engineer

About the Job

• [Company] a major US cement manufacturer is seeking a Mining Engineer in the Bethlehem, PA Corporate office. The Corporate Mining Engineer will be responsible for developing and updating the mining plans for all the [Company] plants.
• The Mining Engineer will report directly to the Director of Manufacturing Services and will be responsible for:
• Developing mining strategies pertaining to expansion, stripping, planning, overburden utilization, etc.
• Developing and updating mining plans.
• Providing on-going support to plant personnel on mining and crushing operations.
• On-going review and improvement of mining related key performance indicators.
• Estimating and updating mineral reserves for each plant.
• Supporting quarries permitting and compliance activities.
• Reviewing contracts relating to mining activities including, but not limited to, blasting and mobile equipment.
• Supporting the plants with mobile equipment utilization and procurement.
• Managing and assessing the Company’s other natural resource assets.

Mining Engineer job requirements include:

• BS degree in Mining Engineering or Geology.
• 8 to 10 years working as a Mining Engineer.  2 – 5 years’ experience at the corporate level preferred.
• Prior experience with Open Pit Mining required.
• Self-motivated and results driven.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to liaise effectively with operations’ personnel and senior management.
• Strong planning, negotiation and problem solving skills.
• Solid computer skills including MS Office.
• Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
• Requires physical dexterity to navigate through and around various job conditions, including climbing, walking on less than optimal surfaces, etc.
• Must be able to tolerate noise, dust, and dirty conditions.
