Environmental Engineer

• [Company] a leader in the cement manufacturing business is currently seeking an Environmental Engineer at our Maryneal, TX plant. 

• Performing routine environmental sampling, conducting required inspections, and maintaining necessary records.
• Preparing and submitting compliance reports.
• Preparing and maintaining environmental operating plans.
• Ensuring all environmental permits/certificates are renewed in a timely manner and kept up-to-date with any applicable facility changes.
• Acting as the primary contact with regulatory agencies, including accompanying regulatory representatives during site inspections/visits.
• Keeping aware of environmental regulatory changes with the potential to impact company operation, and communicating these changes to the appropriate company management.
• Providing training for the environmental program; training and coordinatingthe environmental management team.
• Maintaining current knowledge of the collective bargaining agreement and related plant policies. Seeking opportunities to promote and instill an attitude of cost and profit consciousness among subordinates.
• Continuing self-improvement activities especially in the area of new developments in environmental equipment and regulations.

The Environmental Engineer’s job requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Environmental Engineering or related science.
• A Minimum of two years’ experience in environmental permitting/compliance preferred.
• Experience working with state regulatory agencies
• Knowledge of CAA, CWA and RCRA regulations
• Familiar with cement manufacturing process preferred
• Strong communication and technical writing skills needed
• Proficient with Word, Excel and Access
• Knowledge of chemical and scientific nomenclature and able to use mathematical calculations
• Light physical exertion. Some walking and climbing of ladders and stairs in plant. 
• Ability to tolerate noise, dust, and dirty conditions.
