Mid-Level Remediation Construction Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Approximately 70% office work and 30% field work as a part of our environmental team for oversight of construction activities.
- Will have project management responsibilities for environmental remediation and redevelopment projects/construction projects. Will work closely with the design engineers out of Colorado and the co-consultant.
- Will review drawings, specifications and reports.
- Will work with project manager on technical assignments and management on specific elements of the project.
- Will have client interaction in a corporate environment.
- Prepares technical evaluations and recommendations.
- Assists in planning of work, scope definition and coordinates development of cost and schedule.
- Prepare and updates project schedules using scheduling software.
- Point person for remediation contractors and directs junior staff overseeing construction activities.
- Prepare construction summary reports and general correspondence.
- Provide field inspection services to evaluate construction quality and compliance with design drawings and specifications.
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform technical tasks, field tasks, studies and analyses with ongoing review from project team management.
- Assist Project Manager and team with ensuring effective client communication and relations.
- Prepare field reports and review field reports prepared by others.
- Organize field work and assign tasks and provide guidance to staff specialists
- Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements.
- As member of a design team, or in support of more senior staff, prepare plans and specifications.
- Assist Project Manager with cost and schedule control.
- Perform office assignments on environmental investigation and remediation projects for industrial, commercial and federal sites.
- Prepare components of investigation and engineering reports including work summaries, data summaries, engineering calculations, summary tables, figures, engineering drawings and specifications, and report text.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures, site safety standards, and permit requirements.
Basic/Required Qualifications
- BS or MS Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related engineering degree.
- EIT required, PE desired.
- 5 - 8+ years of construction and construction engineering experience specific to heavy construction on environmental remediation systems, or chemical process plant sites.
- Engineering skills in review of drawings, specifications and reports. Experience reviewing construction bid specifications and determine compliance with owner’s requirements.
- Experience with cost estimating including project cost estimates/budgets and change orders.
- Experience with shop drawing reviews, catalog cuts, quantity take-offs, and payment estimates.
- Strong skills using Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
- Demonstrated maturity in judgment, initiative and client relations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare presentations, reports and proposals.
- Demonstrated project task management and prioritization abilities.
- Experience with delivering public presentation.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
- Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
