Licensed Surveyor/Plan Review

Description and Desired Qualifications

  • As the Licensed Surveyor you will be conducting survey and legal description reviews for permit applications for Development Orders, Zoning, Subdivisions, and other permit applications involving land development and entitlement with an emphasis on surveying.

Our Surveyor:

  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets survey documents involving development orders for commercial, industrial and residential projects, lot splits/combinations, and subdivisions of land; focuses primarily on mapping and legal description issues relating to the standards of the State of Florida
  • Applies and enforces the provisions of the City's Land Development Code, administrative code, and other applicable federal, state and local regulations
  • Are responsible for documenting and communicating any deficiencies found to the appropriate parties including engineers, contractors, developers, and owners; provides the required revisions in order to bring applications into compliance with City codes, ordinances, and standards
  • Negotiates and develops mutually acceptable solutions to permitting problems with architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and general public
  • Discusses plats and construction plans, permit procedures, status of plans reviews, problem areas, changes/needed corrections, and owner / surveyor's responsibilities prior to and during the formal review process with City staff, property owners, developers, contractors, engineers, and architects
  • Researches and recommends changes in ordinances, regulations, standards, and policies to resolve interpretation and implementation problems based on community input, and to comply with updated State, Federal ordinances and codes
  • Deals with and resolves potentially hostile situations while providing quality customer service
  • Assists surveyors and engineers with field reviews to determine best method and processes for resolving issues
  • Advises supervisors of potentially controversial or contentious issues relating to permit applications and reviews
  • Performs field verification for surveying and development order applications as set forth in the City's Land Development Code
  • Validates applicant legal descriptions and generate spatially referenced output in DWG/DXF or similar format for GIS integration as needed

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three (3) year of administrative or technical experience as a licensed surveyor
  • Must have a State driver's license
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
  • State Surveyors License
  • Five (5) years professional experience in surveying or civil engineering
  • Understanding of zoning, municipal and administrative codes, and the public information process
  • Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with architects, engineers, and other design professionals
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations relating to the description and subdivision of land

Degree Required

  • Bachelors or 4 Year Degree

Certifications Required

  • Yes-State Certification FL
