Exploration Manager
Job Description
- Responsible for Exploration Department. Maintain portfolio of minerals exploration properties owned or joint ventured by our client. Responsible for tracking deadlines for work commitments, monitoring and negotiating work contracts. Develop mineral exploration targets for base and precious metal commodities for our client. Act as our client’s liaison for minerals exploration within the larger mining exploration community, including other major mining companies, junior minerals exploration companies, regulatory agencies for Our client. Work with geologic staff at mine operations to: develop and maintain geologic models for individual mines; identify exploration targets within the current mine operations; identify exploration targets close to the mines.
Most important functions:
- Maintain portfolio of exploration properties and projects as well as explore for new resources
- Operate as in-house consultant to geologic mine site staff regarding exploration target definition, geologic modeling, drilling and sampling
- Develop budgets and supervise expenditures
- Solicit property submittals and negotiate contracts dealing with exploration acquisitions and dispositions
- Review technical data from mine sites and provide recommendations
- Negotiate contracts or provide guidance for contracts
- Identify new exploration opportunities at existing mine sites and in areas of favorable exploration potential for targeted base metal and precious metal commodities
- Supervise consultants and potential new exploration dept. staff
- Prepare technical reports for management
- Provide recommendations to in-house legal counsel pertaining to land issues and contracts

- Geologic processes and formation of ore deposits
- Geochemistry

- Data manipulation, block modeling
- Mining claim law, regulations and permitting
- Drilling and sampling concepts and procedures
- Computer software –geologic database and modeling, AutoCAD, spreadsheets, word processing, graphics.
