Fixed Maintenance Repairer (Huntsville)

Job Description

• Makes all types of repairs on all stationary equipment, such as crushers, conveyors, vibrators, screens, speed reducers, feeders, and air compressors. (Is able to operate this equipment, as necessary, to perform repairs.)
• Analyzes sources of trouble (or failures), devises a method of repair, and proceeds with repair work.
• Installs, assembles and adjusts a variety of bearings, bushings, shafts, gears, and pins.
• Observes all safety rules, such as wearing of a welding hood, goggles, gloves, rain suit, helmet, etc.
• Takes care of tools and work area (i.e. housekeeping is neat).
• Performs precision fitting, where necessary, using precision measuring instruments.
• Operates power or hand tools and electric or gas welding equipment in the performance of job duties.
• Grinds and sharpens tools such as drills, cutters, etc., to keep them in good repair.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma, 2 years of previous work experience in related field.
• Qualified candidates may be subject to welding test.

Required Skills

• Welding, cutting, fitting, and understanding of metal fabrication;
• Able to service all stationary equipment units using only a service/maintenance manual as a guide;
• Able to operate steam cleaner to clean equipment;
• Able to perform the following welding tasks:
• Use gas or electrical welding equipment to weld, braze, and cut.
• Physically able to weld in flat and vertical positions. 
• Select appropriate welding rods for desired metals and materials.
• Fabricate structural components from instructions, as required.
• Able to install and repair bearings, speed reducers, shafts, pulleys, couplings, sheaves, and belts.
• Able to repair crushing, screening, and conveying equipment.
• Able to repair water pumps.
