Senior Environmental Chemist
Description
- [Company] is looking to add significant depth to its Environmental Chemistry practice area and is looking for a Technical Director or Senior Consultant-level Consulting Environmental Chemist to help lead the practice. Of particular interest are experienced consultants with experience in forensic hydrocarbon and organic chemistry in marine, aquatic and ground waters and a variety of land environments with a reputation in a strategic environmental toxicology, natural resource damage assessment or forensic environmental chemistry practice area or business line.
- The position will report to Client Service Directors and assist the [Company] Senior Leadership team in directing and managing the growth and profitability of their practice area or business line regionally and nationally. We are looking for highly accomplished professionals in their area(s) of technical expertise, in key client development and management and in attracting new business.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Management oversight of group or project staff
- Growing a practice or business line, leading strategic marketing efforts, identifying key strategic and tactical staffing needs to support those practices or business lines
- Leading recruitment efforts either regionally or nationally to support that growth
- Directing and managing Practice-related scopes of services, quality control of deliverables, practice development budgets, and professional development and engagement in their respective practice areas
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in environmental chemistry, forensic chemistry, or a related major and a professional registration (e.g. P.E., R.G., etc.)
- 10 to 15 years of professional experience, specifically related to environmental chemistry consulting
- Experience in forensic hydrocarbon and organic chemistry in marine, aquatic and ground waters and a variety of land environments
- Evidence of standing in your profession, including publications, expert witness support or recognition in their profession as both technical and business experts in the areas of environmental hydrocarbon chemistry, and environmental forensic organic chemistry
- Ability to generate in excess of 15 to 20% annual net revenues growth in their respective practice or business line areas, and greater than $1 to 1.5 M annually in new sales, either regionally or nationally
- Evidence of serving as a Project Sponsor on project and major proposal assignments or Project Manager for major proposal and project efforts ($500,000 and above) including building and directing proposal teams, scopes, budgets, and schedules over the full range of project scale and complexity
- Demonstrated experience in managing major key clients and key client accounts ($500,000 and above), and directing key client penetration strategies, opportunity tracking and development within their area of specialty
- Demonstrated ability mentoring and directing staff on key business development and project assignments
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship
