Financial Analyst
Position Summary:
- The Financial Analyst provides financial analyses and decision support. This position works to improve understanding of key business drivers and maximizes results within the product line. Identification and implementation of best practices comprise a key component of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Consolidate and review product line performance plans
- Assemble and update budgets, forecasts and strategic review summaries
- Perform standard and ad hoc analyses for Product Line management
- Provide analysis to support key business decisions
- Review Capital Expenditure Request (CER) reports and conduct analyses
- Assist with month end closing
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations
- Participate in the production of monthly reporting package (VPGM/President’s Letter, Flag Reports)
- Support Area GM’s
- EVA Reporting
- Participation in operational Performance Efficiency Reviews (PERs)
- Liaise with Service Centers to ensure collaborative achievement of Finance objectives
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
Results/Accountabilities:
Acquire strong knowledge of the business
- Compliant usage of common system tools (ERP)
- Compliance with policies and procedures
- Consistency of accounting/statutory reporting and product line reporting
- Effective linkage of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other financial performance analyses with financial reporting
- Timely monthly management reporting
- Effective flagging of business issues based on financial analyses
- Enhance the safety culture of [Company] (e.g. including safety on employee meeting agendas, attending Plant safety meetings, sitting on the H&S committee, participating in Plant/Region Safety audits, completing driver training/first aid training, etc.)
Relationships with Others’ Jobs:
- Reports to Finance Manager
- Interface with Product Line Controller in monthly review/reporting process
- Some interaction with Service Center
- Co-ordination with Job Cost Accountant (Asphalt/Pave)
- Peer relationships within and across regions with other Product Line Analysts
Qualification Profile:
Education and Work Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting
- At least 3 years of related experience required
- 2-4 years professional experience required
- Professional background in management accounting and financial analysis
- Professional accounting designation preferred (CMA, CGA, CPA or CA)
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong ability to work independently
- Exceptional interpersonal skills- verbal and written
- Demonstrated ability in financial/business analysis
- Product Line knowledge preferred
- E-One/ERP BI skills
- GAAP knowledge
