Safety Officer

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Project Manager. 
  • Responsible for the implementation and operations of the Project Safety Program including the development of site safety policies and procedures. 
  • Conduct training, new hire orientation and Safety Meetings. 
  • This position is responsible for monitoring all construction work for compliance with safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent degree/work experience is required.
  • 3-5 years experience in a similar role
  • Candidates must possess a strong work ethic, good interpersonal skills; demonstrate good organizational and communications skills.
  • Candidates must be able to act independently with little or no supervision and as a team player.
  • Must be able to operate a standard personal computer.
  • Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements is a must.
  • Certification of Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is also desired.
  • Ability to carry out duties in varying environments including wide ranging weather conditions and terrain.
  • Ability to travel and relocate is a must.

Location

  • The position will require the individual to work on a remote construction site located in Northern Ontario.
  • The rotation for this project is of 14 work days followed by 7 days of leave. 
  • Schedule:  Minimum of 10 h/day

**Air transportation to the site and camp accommodations will be provided.
