Senior Resource Geologist

My client is looking for an experienced Senior Resource Geologist to work within a consultancy environment; the position will be based in Johannesburg but would require site visits from time to time. The successful engineer would have had exposure to multiple commodities this includes: Au, Ni, Cu Pb, Zn, Fe, U, and PGM’s

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor degree from a recognised tertiary institution in Geology
  • Pr Sci Nat, GSSA, SAIMM
  • Proficient in geostatistics and variography
  • Skilled in mining and geostatistical software, preferably Datamine, Geostats, Block models
  • Experience in implementing and assessment of data collection protocols and analytical data quality control (QA/QC)
  • Familiarity with the various international reporting standards (JORC Code, NI43-101, SAMREC etc)
  • Open pit and underground mine geology (including grade control and reconciliation studies)

Job Specification

  • Carrying out resource estimates, geostatistical studies, audits, due diligence studies, feasibility studies and technical reports
  • Strategically examine resource data for validity.
  • Interpret and analyse geological information to assess and model viability of targeted resources.
  • Professional reporting of resource estimates, audits, due diligence studies, feasibility studies and technical reports.
  • Classify and report geological resource estimates and mineral resource by internationally recognised standards such as SAMREC,
  • 43101, JORC, if so required by client.
  • Contribute to and undertake due diligence reports (DDR) on mineral resources.
  • Audit DDR as requested by client and verify that DDR was done accordingly to industry standards.
  • Keep abreast with development of new technologies and improvements to current mineral processing techniques.
