Payroll Supervisor

Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for the position of Payroll Supervisor.

The successful candidate will report to the Payroll Manager.

Minimum Requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Matric certificate
  • Payroll diploma (1 year) from a recognised institution is essential, a degree will be advantageous
  • Be fully computer literate
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate level Excel
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills

Job Specification

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

  • Currently in a payroll supervisory role for at least 2 years
  • Extensive VIP payroll system knowledge and sign off system testing and changes
  • Working knowledge of all tax matters affecting semi skilled workers, including tax calculations
  • Excellent PAYE and BCEA rules knowledge, including balancing until e@syfile stage
  • Able to work accurately under pressure and at a fast pace
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
  • Effectively manage a payroll team via leading, motivating and coordinating
  • Payroll mass checking and balancing via electronic analysis
  • Full payroll functions, including journals, recons, tax related matters, query resolution, and data capturing
  • Identifying staff skill shortages and training of staff, conduct IR functions
  • Ensuring payroll is paid on time and accurately by implementing effective planning, own and team check listing and conducting control / review functions
  • Able to gather, control, coordinate and distribute large volumes of electronic and hard copy input
  • Ongoing analysis of system set up vs legislation requirements and implementing these changes on payroll systems
  • Adhere to 24 hour query resolution policy
  • Balance ESS to VIP
  • Timeous statutory balancing and submissions
