Mine Geologist

Job Description :

  • The MINE GEOLOGIST is responsible for providing Geology services to mining personnel and other relevant stakeholders as input into mine planning by coordinating accurate observations and administrate data and control Geological information in order to ensure effective ongoing extr ction of the mine ore reserve. 
  • Provide effective Geology services to mining personnel and other relevant stakeholders
  • Effectively administrate data and control information on the necessary Geology systems
  • Ensure successful teamwork and supervision of Geology resources
  • SHEC
  • At least twelve months post qualification experience as a Graduate
  • Geologist
  • Experience in Bushveld Geology with applied knowledge of Platinum
  • Geology will be an advantage

Minimum Education Requirements :

  •  NQF 7 qualification in Geology, Chamber of Mines Elementary
  • Sampling Certificate
Additional Education Requirements (Advantageous) :
  • NQF 7 qualification in Geology, Chamber of Mines Elementary
  • Sampling Certificate

Years Of Experience :

  • 1-2 years

Job Requirements :

  • Ensure effective planning and prioritising of Geology operations and processes
  • Plan and organise Geological observation requirements to ensure effective underground mapping
  • Ensure accurate underground Box hole- & Cover Drilling Layouts and design directions of Haulages
  • Maintain and control annual Geological planning of ore reserves
  • (Maps, models, layouts, cores, contours etc) estimation and extraction Ensure that the appropriate procedures are followed relevant to task requirements 
  • Ensure underground observations and logging of data are conducted effectively
  • Provide input into the investigation and design of alternative systems that could be implemented
  • Advise on observing techniques/ measuring, and follow-up on the completion of scheduled tasks to ensure that standards are met and work quality is maintained
  • Hold regular review meetings with Geology Observers to determine the status of scheduled tasks and take corrective actions ensure
  • Complete all necessary administration regarding timesheets, material requisitions, permission booklet, feedback and record keeping required for the role
  • Guide personnel in standards for safety and performance
  • Build competencies through support, on-the-job coaching and participation in their training and development requirements
  • Contribute to individual Career Management by participating in
  • Monitor area for potential risks and take appropriate action to prevent and manage risks
  • Ensure compliance to organisational and legislative safety requirements by implementing appropriate practices, standards and procedures
  • Monitor and follow-up on safety measures implemented
  • Conduct informal safety reviews to drive legal compliance
  • Participate in ICAM investigations
