The Hydra Mining Division is a world leading manufacturer of underground mining cutting systems for the global coal mining market.
[Company] have an opening for the position of Continuous Improvement and Health, Safety and Environment Officer. The purpose of this role is to ensure the two sites conduct their operations in full compliance with all statutory health, safety and environmental regulations and to provide leadership, coaching and guidance to drive safe working behaviour in the operations. The position holder is also responsible for the facilitation of continuous improvement activities in order to increase capacity, reduce lead time, improve delivery, improve quality and reduce cost.
Reporting to the General Manager, the position holder will be the champion for all health, safety and environmental related matters and will coordinate all safety related activities on site, including facilitating employee training, agency inspections and audits and ensuring adequate systems and controls are in place to maintain regulatory compliance.
The position holder is also responsible for implementing and facilitating the [Company] continuous improvement programme at the site, which is focused upon increasing capacity, reducing lead time, improving delivery, quality and reducing costs.
The ideal candidate has a minimum professional attainment of the the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, and is ideally working towards the NEBOSH Diploma in Safety Management. The successful candidate will also be a member of an appropriate recognised body such as IOSH or IMEA, with a minimum of three years’ experience in a safety and/or environmental role, ideally within the manufacturing sector. Experience within a continuous improvement culture, and experience working with lean principles, is an advantage.
