Responsibilities:
The Greater Vancouver (Burnaby) Office of Golder Associates is seeking an Intermediate Rock Mechanics Engineer to support our growing Mining Rock Mechanics Group. At Golder Associates, we take pride in our ability to offer challenging roles and a multitude of opportunities for international exposure.
The suitable candidate will:
· Apply rock mechanics principles to surface and underground mine design problems ranging from basic applications to state of the art design;
· Be a self starter and be able to take ownership of project work using their technical experience;
· Demonstrate critical analytical and reporting skills.
Qualifications and skills:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
· An undergraduate degree in Geological, Civil, or Mining engineering;
· Applicants should have a minimum 7 years experience;
· Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment;
· Ability to train and mentor more junior engineering staff;
· Willingness to travel, both nationally and internationally, thus candidates should be able to adapt to challenging conditions;
· Strong ability to write well organized reports;
· Knowledge and experience in advanced numerical analysis an asset;
· Practical experience in mining ground control, preferably with exposure to several mining methods;
· Working outside of standard office hours will also be required from time to time.
