Associate – Equity Research

Work directly with the Senior Equity Research Analyst in the Metals and Mining sector covering TSX listed companies. The position requires an ambitious and self motivated individual who is comfortable in an unstructured and demanding environment. Associates typically gain an in-depth understanding of the financial and operational issues within a particular sector, gaining valuable skills, knowledge and relationships

Main Challenges

• Analysis of financial statements and the valuation of Mining companies for a top ranked analyst
• Development and maintenance of financial models to forecast quarterly and annual earnings
• Development and maintenance of industry databases
• Evaluation of additional information from the financial press, corporate, industry and alternative sources
• Assist in writing and editing research notes, reports and analyst presentations
• Communication with institutional clients, management of companies under coverage and equity sales staff

Qualifications

• An undergraduate degree with a focus on business (Geology/finance and/or accounting)
• Enrolment in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program
• Other designations or degrees such as CA, MBA, P.Eng would be an asset
• Preference will be given to candidates with previous analytical experience
• Mining industry experience an asset
• Ability to work independently and within a team under strict deadlines, with an attention to detail and output orientation
• Willingness to work long hours in an unpredictable setting
• Strong computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
