Supervisor - Tax Department
Responsibilities
- The Tax Supervisor will work as a valuable member to the tax department. [Company] is seeking a self-motivated individual to work in our Home Office Tax Department.
- Supervise Canadian and other foreign transaction tax (GST, HST, PST, VAT) compliance, ensuring timely completion
- Analyze tax strategies, plans, and solutions by understanding company business model, strategic goals and requirements
- Researching and tracking economic, political and legislative trends affecting business
- Identifying and researching tax issues/coordinate tax audits
- Recommends tax policies and solutions to management
- Overseeing tax reporting and related software
- Supervise Tax staff
- Prepare federal and state income tax compliance
- Review federal and state income tax returns
- Perform quarterly estimate reviews
- Handle any third-party dealings
- Support ongoing and new projects within the department
- Prepare detailed reports on audit findings
- Conduct research and analysis appropriate to candidate's experience level
- Review financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures
- Confer with company officials about financial and regulatory matters
- Examine and evaluate financial and information systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity
- Provide training and guidance to department team
Qualifications
- Big 4 or equivalent years of corporate tax experience
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field
- CPA, preferred
- Good academic history
- Transaction tax (sales, use, VAT) planning and auditing experience
- Ability to conduct research
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven technical abilities
- Computer skills in Excel, OneSource, Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
- Willing and able to put in the time required to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Some travel may be required
