Associate, Geotechnical Engineering

Requirements

  • The Civil Engineering Practice is currently hiring for an Associate (Geotechnical Engineering) for our Oakland, CA or Menlo Park, CA office. This position will be responsible for the inspection, analysis, and evaluation of root causes of failures of geotechnical systems (e.g., foundations, retaining walls, excavation support systems, levees, dams, and slopes).

[Company] staff has experience with the following types of geo-failures:

  • Landslides
  • Foundation and retaining wall failures
  • Excavation support systems
  • Levees/dams
  • Oil-well distress
  • Earthwork construction claims

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in geotechnical engineering from an accredited university. M.S. plus 5 years’ experience will be considered
  • Strong analytical skills, computer problem solving, field investigations, and development of successful client relations
  • Assignments will require the ability to gather information from a wide variety of sources (e.g., field investigations, document reviews, and interviews) and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and industry
  • Dedication to quality and accuracy, effective leadership skills, the ability to support multiple group projects, and the ability to interact with managers, engineers, clients, and administrative staff
